SAP HANA SP05 Composite Provider - BW Modelling and Calculation View -Lumira -How to Guide
Purpose
The following How to guide details the process required to firstly set up HANA studio to utilise the new BW modelling perspective as of SP06. Once set up you can then make best use of the new composite providers and Open ODS’s to export current ETL logic in BW into native HANA modelling via calculation views. This will be of use for specific siloed requirements where very quick ad-hoc analysis is required via a BI tool set such as Lumira. The document has been created as single source for the scenario with the sole intention of sharing relevant knowledge around new functionality

BW Modelling Perspective in HANA Studio.
As we can see on the left hand side my info area structure from the relevant BW system is available to explore, you can open existing info providers from the menu which will open a SAP GUI session within eclipse though the new functionality is to model directly within Eclipse to create composite providers and Open ODS views.
There are a number of steps required to complete in HANA studio before you can use the modelling perspective, these are detailed in various documents listed in the appendix though below will show a step by step view.

1. Firstly if you haven’t yet, install HANA studio from

Select Window Open Perspective, the view below won’t be available to select the BW modelling perspective hence we have to go through a number of steps to install it.
3. – Install the ADT tools – Select Help – Install New Software
4. Select work with and select the kepler link

5. Remove the select option of "Group items by category" and select the below features one by one
6. Select Next and install ensure latest versions are selected
7. Accept the license agreement
8. Now restart HANA studio
9. Now we have successfully installed the ADT tools we will need to install the ABAP development Tools and BW modelling tools. We can link through to the updated software similar to the ADT though I like to download and install the updates via SMP.
10. In SMP search for the software component” SAP ABAP IN ECLIPSE 2.19” **
11. select the following component
12. Save the ZIP file to your desktop or an accessible location In HANA studio select Install New Software.
13. Ensure to click Add and then link to the downloaded ZIP file
14. – Select All and select next
15. Agree to the license agreement and select next
16. Once again we will need to restart HANA studio.
17. Almost there, the last part is now to install the BW modelling tools similar process to the above ABAP tools development
18. Search for the software component “ SAP BW Modeling Tools 1.0”
19. Save the ZIP file to your desktop .
20. In HANA studio Select install new software and select add
21. Select archive and point to the BW Modelling Tools Zip File on your desktop
22. Now install All
23. Restart HANA Studio and select Window > Open Perspective > Other
24. We will now be able to select the BW modelling perspective
25. Right click and select new and BW project to connect to the relevant BW system.
26. Select browse which will open your maintained connections via SAP GUI
27. Select next and add your user name and password- as we can see I can now view all of my relevant info areas in BW
28. Before the fun begins and we can start creating new BW modelling composite providers and Open ODS in eclipse we need to attached a relevant HANA system if we want to utilize native HANA capabilities.
29. Right click on the system and select attach SAP HANA system
30. You will be able to view all your configured HANA systems, select the relevant system and select Finish
31. We can now link directly to the HANA system from the modelling perspective
32. In the next phase we will create a simple composite provider from a purchasing Info cube in BW and then expose as a calculation view for Ad-hoc report from SAP Lumira 1.17.
A simple case will be created to create a composite provider on an existing info cube, this will be activated as a calculation view for Lumira to report directly on HANA.
Right click on the Infoarea you wish to create a composite provider,
33. Select a Union in this case which will act in a similar way to a multi provider in BW terms, more to come on this in a further how to guide.
34. Select Finish
35. Now ensure to select External SAP HANA view
36. Select Scenario – I will be linking through to only one cube though mutiple providers could be unioned.
37. Select the info cube
38. Select create assignments to Map all InfoObjects to the output
39. View the output fields, now check and then activate the composite provider.
We will be able to view the composite Provider in our info area – note we can also view the Composite provider in BW though will not be able to make any changes directly in BW you can only make changes direct in Eclipse.
40. As part of the reporting solution we want to report directly off a HANA Calculation view from SAP Lumira to provide the full capabilities of SAP Lumira 1.17 whilst also having our ETL logic that has been calculated within BW. Please not there are some changes in your design you should consider when exposing a composite provider as a calculation view such as security, SSO and losing BEx query logic such as Customer Exits, currency conversion, non-cumulative KF’s to name a few.
41. When the Composite Provider has been activated the Calculation View should be generated in the System-local.bw.bw2hana package considering your Schema mapping has been set up correctly.
42. Open the Calculation view to change the privilege to analytical, validate and activate. Here we can rename navigational attributes and unhide the text filed names though for now we will take the default view.
43. Save and Activate
44. Open Lumira and connect to SAP HANA
45. Select your Calculation View
46. Create an initial view by selecting the calculation view and add a number of visualisations for example quantity over time
47. Now create a storyboard before saving the Lumira Document
Further ad-hoc analysis can be provided as well as integration into Further BI tools as described in a following How-to-guide.
Care should be taken in when to chose specific scenarios, as mentioned above a number functions from BW/BEx are lost when you report directly of the calculation view.
